Herbs and Healing

inspiring gardensWe've retained this page, describing a tour from our 2008 programme, to give you an idea of the kind of tours Greenyonder offers ....

Our Herbs and Healing tour explored associations between health, plants and gardens - all on the 44 bus!  We started with a city centre garden that shows the Scots connection in herbal healing.  Then we caught the bus for an easy journey to the inspirational 250-year-old Redhall Walled Garden which supports recovery from mental health problems through gardening.  In the afternoon, Julia Cook, a qualified herbalist, took us on a walk around the National Trust's beautiful Malleny Garden, showing herbal uses of familiar garden plants.  Then back to the city centre, all on the 44 bus, making the tour truly green.

"I came today because a friend recommended it to me, although it's not my usual kind of thing! I am really glad I came. I especially appreciated having expert guides in each garden, all giving different views on how plants and gardening are so central to health and wellbeing. The day has been light-hearted and friendly, but it has also made me think about these links."  Mark, Edinburgh
